How do I wire up a triaxial sensor to the 7-pin LEMO connector on my vb6 or vb8 instrument?

ANSWER

Your Commtest distributor can supply a triaxial sensor kit that contains all necessary cabling.

However, if you already own a triax sensor, you should be able to purchase the appropriate cable from vendors such as www.ctconline.com.

Failing that, you will need to obtain the appropriate 7-pin LEMO plug and connect it to your triaxial sensor cable. The exact part numbers required will depend on the cable diameter used.

Connector pinouts

These are the pin assignments on the 7-pin LEMO plug:

• Pin1 = Ground
• Pin2 = vb CH2 = X axis of triax sensor
• Pin3 = vb CH3 = Y axis of triax sensor
• Pin4 = vb CH4 = Z axis of triax sensor

You will need the data sheet of your triax sensor to determine which of its wires correspond to the X, Y, and Z axes.
